Each time you come to my office, I count it a privilege to meet with you. I admire the fact that you are courageous enough to ask for help, to seek change, and to pursue growth in your life. I believe there is always purpose and meaning to be found in life’s struggles, and those struggles make us more qualified, better equipped, and increase our ability for demonstrating God’s power in our lives. Together we will discuss the ways in which you can move forward toward the life God desires for you to live through Him.
I believe that many people are living from a perspective of a mistaken identity – thinking of themselves as one who is not worthy, not forgiven, and not chosen by God, who loves them unconditionally and unreservedly. My goal is to empower each of my clients to recognize and embrace their divine purpose as one created in the image of an almighty God, and to find healing from wounds that are the result of us living in an imperfect and fallen world.
Clients can expect to sit across from someone real and relatable. Our sessions may include tears, laughter, or very direct “Come to Jesus” truths when needed. Clients may expect to receive regular at-home assignments from me, in an effort to encourage their growth, confidence, and to retrain their brain to work for them instead of against them. I will invite Scripture and prayer into our sessions if the client so desires.
I believe (and have seen) that approaches to counseling are most effective when integrated with an invitation to the Holy Spirit for guidance, wisdom, and wholehearted healing. By having access to and reliance upon the One who is the Great Physician, the Wonderful Counselor, the One who is familiar with many sorrows, temptations, letdowns, rejection, and near to the brokenhearted, we have access to authentic spiritual healing. I will approach each session with curiosity and a passion for this calling.
Please don’t hesitate to give me a call and come in for a risk-free initial session.
I do look forward to meeting you and would be honored to be part of your healing journey.
I hold a Master’s in Professional Counseling from Liberty University in Virginia and a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Communication Studies from Cal Poly Pomona. I am also pursuing certification in the Gottman Couples Method from The Gottman Institute, and I am a CSAT Candidate (Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist) through IITAP.
I realized I was not operating in my God-given calling in my former career in marketing and business relations, and the more I saw that “the harvest is plenty but the workers are few” (Luke 10:2), I surrendered my future to Jesus and followed the path He illuminated for me, which included going to graduate school for counseling.
I moved up to Seattle from Southern California about nine years ago, and I’ve been married to my Alaskan husband for five years. We have two rescued mutts as substitute children for now. I love photography, traveling, museums, arts and cultural events, and family and church activities.
You are not your addiction and you were not created to be enslaved and powerless. Utilizing my training through the International Institute of Trauma and Addiction Professionals, we will identify the origins of the issue, assess for trauma and attachment style, and work through performable tasks that will equip and enable you to increase positive behaviors and decrease undesirable behaviors.
Utilizing my training experience through The Gottman Institute, we will identify the needs of each individual and gain clarity into what is needed within the relationship. The most important thing to remember is that as a couple, you are on the same team; you are not against each other, you are for each other.
Together we will learn new and effective ways of communicating, identify boundaries within the relationship, and address any maladaptive behaviors or unresolved hurts that need to be acknowledged and given attention.
Trauma comes in all shapes and sizes and will vary for each individual. Most of us have experienced some form of trauma in our lives, and often the most healing experience we can have is sharing that pain with someone else and allowing our hurt to be validated, heard, and processed. I will provide you with a safe and compassionate space for you to encounter understanding and tools for moving through the trauma to a state of healing.
I firmly believe that our spiritual health is inextricably connected to our mental and emotional health. Have you suffered spiritual abuse in the past? Or perhaps you have never been sure of what you believe, with all of the conflicting messages out there. I believe that God is big enough to handle all of our questions, doubts, insufficiencies, and experiences. Allow me to walk alongside you as we seek God together for the individualized and purposeful plan He has specifically tailored for your life.
It seems to come naturally for us to worry, doesn’t it? In fact, sometimes it seems as though if we worry enough about an issue, then we have more control over the outcome. And yet, research does not support the idea that the more we worry, the longer or better we live. In fact, stress and feelings of being out of control are not only harmful to our physical health, but they also keep us operating out of a place of fear instead of a place of freedom, as God intended us to.
Together, let’s identify and address those fears and consider methods for combatting automatic negative thoughts, refuting false beliefs, and ultimately equip you to fully trust a capable God of caring for you and providing for your needs, while developing your own toolbox for looking at life through a different, more effective lens.
There seems to be a common thread among the majority of clients I see – they tend to work against their emotions, instead of knowing how to work with them. For whatever reason, it is a prevalent belief that the “negative” emotions (not bad, just the direction of the emotion taking us down r...
As a counselor, the vast majority of clients I see have either endured or perpetrated some type of emotional abuse throughout their lifetime. Emotional abuse is quite pervasive, and it is a fairly new topic to be discussed as generations prior would not have even considered the effects of their word...
According to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), approximately 18.1% of adults in the United States are affected by an anxiety disorder of some kind – that’s about 40 million people. However, when allowing for errors in misdiagnosis or those who do not seek treatment for anxiety, thi...
