After working together, I want you to feel empowered and accomplished, and to feel as if you have regained hope. I believe in empowering you to be your very best. My goal is that you will walk away with a renewed spirit and a changed heart and mind, walking in the path that God set before you. My aim is to not only listen to you, but also be someone with whom you can learn and grow.
I offer you a respectful, emotionally safe, and inviting space in which to begin a healing and transformational process. In this space, I create an atmosphere in which my clients are empowered and accepted. I take time to learn about your needs, work with you to set goals for treatment and empower you to maintain change. God is invited into the space and each session.
We are created in the image of God and in that relationship with God, we find peace, grace, and mercy. The approach I use is non-judgmental and I firmly believe that by using an eclectic approach to counseling, I am able to meet the needs of my clients. I am open and honest with my clients and work as a team to bring about facilitated change. When we invite the Holy Spirit into our sessions, we are an even stronger team.
My foundational Scripture has been Jeremiah 29:11-14 because I believe wholeheartedly in this promise. God has a plan for each of our lives. When we walk in that plan, we find success and peace; when we stray from that plan, we find limited success and limited peace. We feel disconnected from His word and His purposes. If you don’t know what God’s plan is for your life, then we can ask God to help us learn that plan together. The benefit of a Christian approach is that God is allowed into the therapy session and encouraged to have His will be done.
Please don’t hesitate to give me a call and come in for a risk-free initial session.
I do look forward to meeting you and would be honored to be part of your healing journey.

I received my MA in Counseling Psychology from Bowie State University in Bowie, Maryland and my EdD in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University-Sarasota Campus, in Sarasota, Florida. I have been working in the field of counseling since 2006.
My previous careers were pretty eclectic because of my husband’s military career and the constant moving. Among other roles, I’ve served as a day care owner, a domestic violence advocate, and a police officer. I also have professional experience working with people in crisis, including those who are chronically mentally ill. My position as an investigator for Child Protective Services really pushed me to go into counseling. After this career, I became a school counselor and worked in that field alongside mental health counseling for the last 12 years.
When I was younger, I had no idea what I wanted to be or do with my life, until I took my first psychology class in college. I learned about how the mind works and what caused mental illness. I learned that everyday people have daily struggles and that I could help them in those struggles. God set me on this path to become a mental health counselor and to build my life helping others become healthier people. I believe this is my calling and my passion in life. Everyone has a story to tell, and I am thankful that God blessed me with the ability to listen and hold those stories.
My husband of 30 years and I have three adult children. My husband served for 24 years in the Army, which meant our family moved a lot. We have recently been bitten by the travel bug, and discovered that we really enjoy cruises. Besides spending time with my family, I also love to journal, color, and read. I also teach at Grand Canyon University and Ashford University.
I have more than a decade of experience working extensively with clients who have been depressed and anxious for years. Using proven therapeutic methods, we’ll work together to help you break free from the bondage that accompanies depression and anxiety. In this process, we work to reframe the meaning of depression and anxiety for you so that its impact is reduced and you are able to regain your motivation and pleasure for life and increase your level of functioning. Through the process of learning your triggers and processing your irrational thoughts, we create space for safety and hope.
Recovering from past trauma and sexual abuse takes time. It can be difficult work to do, but I will work patiently with you to bring about healing and gradually build up your strength, resiliency, and trust. Together we’ll walk through the building blocks that are necessary for you to regain your confidence and peace.
Relationships that have been impacted by infidelity are hard to recover from. In this process, we set goals, relearn boundaries and expectations and work to heal the hurt. There is always a root cause for the issues in romantic relationships, so we work to develop appropriate coping skills and rebuild your family unit. When dealing with relationship issues, my goal is to ensure that both sides are heard. In couples’ counseling sessions, I typically use a white board and write out each person’s side so that each party can see. Then we address each point, bullet by bullet and ensure that each party is heard. In areas related to marriage, relationships, and infidelity, I use a lot of visual aids in order to help and stay neutral.
